The team at Alabama Center for Urogynecology and Pelvic Pain provide all the resources necessary to treat women with pelvic floor problems. We specialize in the treatment of vaginal and uterine prolapse, urine and stool leakage as well as a wide of problems that affect women at all stages of life.
Dr. Brent Parnell specializes in urogynecology and is dedicated to personalized and comprehensive care of women who struggle with these problems by using an individualized approach to diagnosis and treatment. The goal is to focus on designing a treatment plan focused on improving quality of life using a wide range of therapeutic options such as pelvic floor retraining with biofeedback, physical therapy, minimally invasive surgery, Botox, nerve stimulation as well as a wide range of other options.
Dr. Brent Parnell is the only Board Certified and Fellowship Trained urogynecologist in private practice in the region. His office provides a comfortable and safe environment to for women to seek care for embarrassing problems.
Dr. Alex J. Childs, M.D. joined the C. Paul Perry Pelvic Pain Center in July 2005 and has completed a two-year clinical fellowship in Chronic Pelvic Pain and Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopy. He is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and completed his undergraduate work at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Childs is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency training in general Obstetrics and Gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia.
Dr. Childs has published over a dozen articles and has presented numerous lectures in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He is Board Certified in general Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Childs is a member of the International Pelvic Pain Society and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been selected as a Who's Who in America. He and his wife have three children.
D.J. Franklin, RN, BSN, MSN, CRNP is originally from Montgomery, Alabama. She is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama and the University of Alabama Birmingham. She is Board certified NCC accredited Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She has interest in Obstetrics, Well Woman Care and Pelvic Pain. She is on Staff with Brookwood Medical Center. She has been on staff with OB-GYN South for over 20 years.
Her interests outside OB-GYN South include family, travel, music and church related activities.
Marchele Johnson, CRNP Originally from Dallas, TX, Marchele attended Samford for bachelor’s of science in nursing and then continued at Samford where she earned a Masters of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. During her time as Samford she played soccer for Bulldogs and was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau honor society for nursing. She has a background in rheumatology, neurology and pain management.
She is married to Andrew who serves as the Student Pastor at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. They have two daughters: Landri who was born in 2015 and Adelaide who was born in 2017, as well as two black lab mixes: Dallas and Nolan.
She loves anything Texas, watching and playing any and all sports, serving at church with the students and rooting against her husband’s professional sport teams.
Francie Barnes, CRNP was born in Birmingham, Alabama, but grew up in Scottsdale Arizona. She moved back to Birmingham to attend nursing school at Samford and later returned to complete her Masters of Science in Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has a background in pediatrics and orthopedics.
If she’s not visiting her family in Nashville or out spending time with her friends, you can almost always find her in the kitchen. There is not much that makes her happier than being in the kitchen creating a fun meal to enjoy with friends and family.
