Our Physicians

Alex Childs, MD | OB-GYN South
Alex Childs, MD
Board certified in general Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Childs joined the C. Paul Perry Pelvic Pain Center in July 2005 and has completed a two-year clinical fellowship in Chronic Pelvic Pain and Advanced Gynecologic Laparoscopy. He is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and completed his undergraduate work at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Childs is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency training in general Obstetrics and Gynecology at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He has published over a dozen articles and has presented numerous lectures in the field of obstetrics and gynecology and has been selected as a “Who's Who in America.” Dr. Childs is a member of numerous associations and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He and his wife have three children.

Brent Parnell, MD | OB-GYN South
Brent Parnell, MD
Dr. Parnell is an Alabama native and completed college at Samford University and medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. After four years of residency training in Greenville, South Carolina, at Greenville Health Systems, Dr. Parnell then completed a three-year fellowship in Urogynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Parnell then completed a three-year fellowship in Urogynecology, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then started and grew a Urogynecology division in Augusta, Georgia, at the medical school, Augusta University. As a board-certified Urogynecologist, Dr. Parnell focuses his practice solely on the treatment of pelvic floor disorders, including pelvic organ prolapse, bladder, and bowel incontinence using a wide array of conservative medical and surgical treatments. Dr. Parnell has extensive experience with robotic surgery, sacral neuromodulation, Botox for overactive bladder, and other minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Parnell lives in Birmingham with his wife, Merritt, and four kids, Avery, Griffin, Graham, and Carsyn.
